Harvest Time

I used to dread carving pumpkins. They looked the same every year, same crooked
jack-o-lantern smile, same triangle eyes. This year we let the boys do their own, and Matt and I tried a new pattern we pulled off the internet. They turned out great! Mine didn't get finished til late, so I will post it after tomorrows festivities.

What is mean Ty about to do?
This one Tyler did. Guess who?
This one James did. Tomorrow night it will have some of the pumpkin insides coming out of its mouth. James is at that gross stage I think.
I helped!
Cody helped too. He only ate it once, I don't think he liked it.
Mom, you clean it out!
Easy disposal system.

Calico Ghost Town

Just past Barstow, there is a ghost town that is owned by Knott's Berry Farm. I have never been there before today, but I think I have heard of it. We found it online and saw that they were having a Halloween special event kind of weekend. Kids can dress up and trick or treat, crafts to do, gun fights, gold panning, all kinds of stuff. We drove up with Chris and Kim, and Bretts parents met us up there too. It was pretty fun!

Lots of places to explore.

Tyler and Matt, all locked up. Like they should be.

Chris and Kim. Or is it Bonnie and Clyde?

Matt branded his own leather bracelet.

Brett and I. My shoulders are huge! If you look close, you can find Matt in this picture...

California Adventure-Trick or Treat Party

It's that time of year again! The Disneyland Mickey Mouse Trick or Treat Party is held at the California Adventure theme park. We did this last year and really enjoyed it. The tickets are cheap and only a limited amount of tickets are sold. The kids are encouraged to dress up and given bags at the entrance to collect candy at numerous candy stations around the park. The whole park is decorated in pumpkins and candy corn, and of course all the rides are open and lines are short. Soooooo much fun. If you ever visit during October, make this a stop on your agenda. Totally worth it! Here's the crew, James, Matt, Brett, Tyler, Chris and Kim. This was Kim's first trip to this park. She hasn't been to Disneyland since she was a kid.

The monsters.

Kim took this picture of Matt.

Matt on a fence in the Bug's Life area. He dressed up as a Jedi.

I can't ever be serious in a photo.

Kim and I.

Ambiance.

Some pirate dude showing the kids how to find treasure on a map.

Kim, Brett and James. James used his wax for his braces for fangs.

This ride right here, the Hollywood Tower of Terror, is the scariest, best ride in this park. Twilight Zone themed, its an elevator that drops you thirteen stories a bunch of times in pitch darkness. So. Much. Fun.

Rainy Day

I love the beach on rainy days. I made Brett drive us down to Laguna yesterday, to my favorite beach. It rained a bit, we got a little wet, and went off to explore the tide pools and climb rocks.

Here's my feet again.Oh, added beach bonus, see that guy in the white t-shirt? That's actor and comedian, Jay Mohr.
We found a bunch of sand crabs, little tiny guys.
Tiny crabs!
Pretty.
