Day Dates

Since the kids were quarantined to the house, my mother was kind enough to let Brett and I go on a few dates by ourselves. We tried really hard to think of fun things to do. We ended up at the gun range, shooting some trap. I shot the gun once, it kicked my shoulder and smelled funny. I think I will wait for a nice small pistol and air conditioned indoor range to start my shooting career again. But Brett did well!

Later in the day we went to Newport Beach to try and catch a boat for some whale watching. We were two weeks too early for the season, so we just walked around and went home. Thus, no pictures of sea life for my blog!

Not quite the plan...

This week was supposed to be vacation time. Brett took the whole week off in anticipation of a trip with the neighbors to the Colorado River. Things didn't quite work out, the day before we were supposed to leave for Laughlin, James came down with a raging case of pink eye, and Matt got a mild case of chicken pox. Needless to say, we had to cancel our trip. But its okay, my mom is down visiting, and my dad drove down, so it was nice to hang out with the family for a few days. As soon as James' eye cleared up, and Matt was scabbed over, we were ready to be out of the house! We went to Huntington for a few hours and salvaged the end of the weekend.

Matt has been getting more and more daring in the ocean. He loves the waves, and he gives all the big waves names. Like, Iron Lotus Wave! Matt is weird.
Tyler, finally getting the hang of skim boarding, waiting for a good set.Shocking to me, Brett stayed in the water the longest. He boogie boarded and swam forever.
Surprise! My feet!

Aunt Michele's House

Saturday we went up to the high desert, Adelanto, to see Brett's family for a Fathers Day BBQ. Brett's sister Michele has three kids and a big yard with a pool. We were surprised to see our nephew Franklin and our niece Johannah, they are Brett's brother Armando's kids. We haven't seen them in a year or so. They are staying with my in-laws for a few weeks.

James, Tyler, Franklin and the shrimp Matt.

Emily, Erica, Priscilla, and Johannah!

Little Miss Emily.

Cousin Franklin, James, Matthew and Tyler. Uncle Alex always grills up great food. The pool was 91 degrees! It felt like a nice bath. We always have a good time when we go see the Rivas Family.

Fruity!

Look what I found in the backyard! A plum tree! And in the front yard, a fig tree! Now I know why the raccoons are hanging out up there every night.

Matt and Hats

Wow. Two posts in one day! My littlest boy Matt is very imaginative. And also very strange. He wanted to try on all Brett's hats today and make up new identities for himself. (On a side note, do any of your kids take off all their clothes when they get home from school? The kid never wears a shirt!) This is what he came up with:

This is Banker. He robs banks. He goes to jail. Matt wants you to know he doesn't really want to be a bad guy, he is just trying on different hats. Ha!This is a baseball player. I don't get it. Babe Ruth maybe?

This is spaghetti western cowboy. Like the movies Dad watches. (Hang Em' High!)

This is a skateboarder guy. He says skateboarder is a long word.

Bad Idea?

Hair color and scissors. I love them. The one thing thing in this world I like to pretend I have control over is my hair. Unfortunately, I have gotten a little too happy with the scissors, so I have to stick to changing color for now. But tell me, was this last color change a bad idea? I was starting to feel like a glow in the dark troll doll with the blonde, but now I feel muted with the light brown. What do you think?

Before.....After.....

Cousins and Legoland

Busy! This summer is already revving up to be a good one. After hitting the waterpark this weekend, we also managed to make our way to Legoland in Carlsbad. Our super fresh-cousin Kym, and her cutest-in-the-world children Samantha and Zachary came up on Monday to stay the night and hang out. They are from Phoenix. Watching the kids play and get to know each other was great. They haven't seen each other in a few years. Tuesday morning we headed to Carlsbad to check out Legoland.

They make cities out of Lego's.Brett and James, on some robot arm thingy that tosses you around.

Kym and Zach, with James and Samantha trailing.

The gang.

Lego Darth Vadar!

Matt and Zach, racing.

Look! We got our drivers licenses!

Lego people.

This was fun. Kym and I, with the two little guys, racing against James, Tyler and Sam. We had to pump a handle in our fire truck to make it roll to a burning building and put out a fire, then roll it back as fast as we could. I think there were five trucks total. We won. Because we mom's roll like that.

Tyler and Sam putting out the fire in their building. Looks like they are doing a good job, but not good enough to beat the mom's. HA HA HA HA

Why?

Most painful shoe in memory.
